Strengthening the educational sector of the Gambia
The Gambia is located in West Africa and has an estimated population of about 1.8 million of which more than 60 percent are below the age of 24. To provide a brighter future for the next generation of children the Gambian government in collaboration with the Worldbank drafted a strategic plan of which the Results for Education Achievement and Development (READ) project is a first phase.
The main aims are to increase access to basic education, improve quality of teaching and learning in lower basic schools, and strengthen education systems.
And The People is partnering in the Worldbank’s education team which provides strategic and technical support to the in fulfilling the foreseen results in a sustainable, efficient and effective manner.
